SplitMe is designed to be lightweight and privacy-first. We only collect the information absolutely necessary to make splitting expenses work: your name, email address, and the expense details (titles, amounts) you choose to track. We do not store your bank credentials or UPI pins.
When you use a SplitMe link to pay a friend, the payment is processed directly between your bank and your friend's bank via the standard UPI network. SplitMe only generates the intent link (URI) that opens your installed UPI apps (PhonePe, GPay, Paytm). We never hold your funds, we never charge a fee, and we do not process the actual monetary transaction.
We do not sell your personal information or expense data to third parties. Expense details within "Trip Groups" or "Friend Tabs" are visible only to the authenticated participants of those groups. Public split links show the necessary amount and recipient details so your friends can pay you without logging in.
